One could call Early Music the 'roots' of classical music, which typically covers a great span from 12th century Medieval plain chant to Renaissance composers such as Guillaume Dufay and even the high Baroque masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach. Much of this Early Music has been brought dazzlingly back to life by some of today's leading performers, such as John Eliot Gardiner and his highly regarded Monteverdi Choir.
