Biography
Biographies. Who needs them? It ought to be enough to say that Stoner is a funky and tight band that you need to see live. But most of the time it isn’t, is it?
Who cares when a band started? (Just in case it’s you, September 2000).
Venues played? (Dingwalls, Rock Garden, The Garage, Borderline, the Cavern in Liverpool, 2002’s Mardi Gras festival). They wish you’d been there. That’s OK. Come some other time.
And a band only shows its good reviews. There are a couple underneath here. Not that there’ve been any bad ones…yet. The reviews are for the two CDs that the band has put out so far. Great EPs, but this is a biography, so you’d expect that.
Anyway, yeah, biographies. It always pretty much comes down to who does the band sound like? Well, maybe sort of Stevie Wonder meets The Plastic Ono Band. Paul Simon’s ear for a melody. Van Gogh’s ear for the visual. Just a funky tight band that you need to see live.
REVIEWS
''Excellent singer, tight band, nice material – the British really know how to write a strong melody'' Dan Kimpel, LA Music Connection – April 2001
''We were deeply impressed by Stoner''s last single, and remain impressed by the follow up. Since the last single these guys have toured the circuit and it shows. The tight production and powerful vocals shine through yet again on this soulful and mature EP'' Record Collector Magazine – February 2002
