Biography
''Getting all warm and fuzzy'' - Vinyl Junkie. S.J. Esau is the solo project of Sam Wisternoff who has been creating music of one kind or another for most of his life and some of other peoples. When S.J.''s band The Pudding were formed in 1994, the band began applying the DIY method to recording songs and sounds at Esau''s home.
As time went on, Esau began writing and recording alone as well as with the band, and in 1999 compiled his first album length selection of his most recent songs - ''Queezy Beliefs''. Although the main instrument featured on ''Queezy...'' is acoustic guitar, the album has a distinctly eclectic feel to it. The songs range from psychedelic mind twisters i.e. ''All of a sudden'' to instantly catchy pop tunes - ''This side''.
S.J''s music has been likened to Syd Barret and Beck in the past but his true influences range from Beefheart, The Beatles and The Beach Boys to more recent acts such as Sparklehorse and Sentridoh.
S.J. Esau is now working on the follow up album as well as projects with other bands such as The Prosthetic Foreheads. Also S.J''s long term colaborater R.D. Pounder has a page right here at Peoplesound. Check out Rustic Rod''s review of ''Queezy'' at www.achingcellar.f2s.com.
