Biography
Simon first became involved with music at the age of seven when he started playing the violin and piano. He studied and played the violin until age twelve by which time popular music had grabbed his ear. Enjoying the rhythmical aspect of music he took up playing the drums and has continued ever since. At age 17 he was given a synthesizer and took to it immediately. Simon had always liked writing pieces on the piano, but with the synthesizer he was presented with a whole new way of thinking of, and appreciating music. It was at this time that he began taking the writing of music seriously. He set up a studio and began to develop his musical style. Simon has had the fortune to write with a variety of instruments and keyboards from the Mellotron to the Synclavier. Today Simon's studio is organized around a Kurzweil keyboard.
There is a classical background evident in most of Simon's music reflecting his love of classical instruments and a desire to intertwine them with a modern day 'pop' music sound. His modern influences come from a variety of artists and groups ranging from Cat Stevens, The Rolling Stones, The Eurythmics, Roxy Music, Phil Collins, and U2 to name just a few.
