Brilliantly written songs coupled with great production will surely be the recipe for long-term success for this astoundingly original rock act. All the songs leave an impression, but the real jewel in the crown is 'I Do' which starts softly with a soothing, mournful melody, before rising to a spine-tingling Bowie-esque climax - a morose treat for those who enjoy ballads with a bitter edge. Old Man Stone is a band to watch out for.

Biography
1994: O.M.S. formed in Bolton, England. Before O.M.S., the band were actually called ''Big Way''
. 1995: After signing to London management (Rock Box), they began 1995 by recording their debut album, ''Old Man Stone'', on the ''Bleeding Hearts'' label. This was mixed at Trident Studios with producer Andy Reilly, whose credits include working with Blaggers ITA and Asia. However, Rock Box had bigger ideas for the band, and deals were broken between them and the label, so O.M.S. were left with a recorded album, but no record deal, and a management company who owned the master tapes. Rock Box never managed to secure the band another deal. So this is why the first album was never released.
A promotional video followed, filmed by Australian Director, Cameron Mellor, who had also worked with bands such as INXS. The year included live dates at The Marquee, The Empire, The Roadhouse, Covent Garden, and G-Mex, and festival appearances at Heinken, Unity, and at Manchester and Bradford music weeks. As well as all this, O.M.S. acted as support on tours with bands such as Skunk Anansie, Terrorvision, Whitesnake and G.U.N. To round off a hectic year, O.M.S. returned to the studio to record a 4 track EP, Madame Butterfly
. 1996: Madame Butterfly released by Rockbox, featuring tracks from their first album ''Old Man Stone''; ''Already Dead'' and ''Murder'', plus new tracks ''Madame Butterfly'' and ''You''ll Be Mine''.
The EP showed a definite change in musical direction for O.M.S., with the songs showing a clear change in mood. As Rick puts it: ''We needed a new musical focus. Our music became more pop yet even more bitter''. In the same year, O.M.S. acquired ''Stone House'', a rehearsal/recording studio to develop band sound and image. Here they recorded, produced and released ''Pocket Sized Control'', a ''mini'' album of mainly acoustic versions of tracks which would appear on their next album, ''Spork'', in full band form. Soon after, O.M.S. recruited a new drummer; Richard Kimmings (a producer who had previously worked with Barrie), and then signed a recording contract with a new record company, Revolver Music, part of Sony records.
Towards the end of the year, O.M.S. began recording ''Spork'' at Revolver Studios. As a testament to O.M.S.''s musical ability, the initial recording took only two weeks. The rollercoaster ride of emotions in Spork was beginning to define the O.M.S. sound.
1997: O.M.S. began promotional gigs for Spork, including a guest appearance at the W5 festival, until bassist Johnny Rock was seriously injured in a car accident, so O.M.S had to cancel other commitments until Johnny''s recovery.
1998: The band returned to the studio to start recording the follow up album to ''Spork'', provisionally entitled ''Dogs In Cars''. Soon afterwards they signed to new management, Landstar Management. Unfortunately, then Barrie was also injured in a car accident. As his recovery took considerably less time than Johnny''s, O.M.S. soon resumed activities, including flying to Sweden for an MTV and international TV appearance at the Baltic Festival.
1999: O.M.S. continue to work on ''Dogs In Cars''.
2000: Work continues on ''Dogs In Cars'', which is due for release this summer.
