Biography
British born composer Michael Neil has been composing his unique brand of ''electronic/classical'' music for twenty years. In 1982 he began in earnest to search for a distinctive sound that would reflect and evoke his new home. This resulted in the 1987 ''Goodbye to the Greenlands'' released in 1992. ''Trust''(1995) followed, but Neil still did not feel entirely satisfied with his overall style and sound until ''Cornubia''(1998). Having received critical acclaim for these works, ''Cornubia'' was to establish Neil as a major artist of the genre. This latest release ''Dies Irae'' firmly seals his crossover electronic to ''contemporary classical'' style with five finely crafted pieces composed over a five year period. Since September 2001 Neil has been studying Music Composition at the prestigious Dartington College of Arts in Devon, England, with particular emphasis on Electroacoustic music. Neil has expressed a desire to explore new regions within electronic music territory and hopes to present this new phase as part of his final year composition in 2004. Until then the titles displayed on this site continue to represent what Neil has acheived so far.
