Biography
A graduate of the Royal College of Music Keith Stead has amassed a wealth of musical experience playing a wide variety of musical styles. This experience has been brought together on his first CD ‘Sometime Somewhere…’ which has received wide acclaim as being a beautifully relaxing album.Working in and around Birmingham in the 90s Keith began to notice that his music was receiving a better response than the popular covers he was playing. Spurred on by this Keith began to write more music and started to develop his own style – a comfortable blend of jazz, soul and R&B. In 1997 Keith moved from his home country, England, to Japan where he quickly became involved in the music scene, playing at international music festivals and Jazz bars around Kyushu. Encouraged by the interest shown in his music he decided to risk a substantial amount of time and money in the recording of ‘Sometime Somewhere…’. The risk paid off. Within a year the entire production costs of the CD – recorded in Japan and manufactured in England – were covered through sales. However, fame and fortune are not the driving force behind Keith’s musical endevours. He says, “If my music can help to raise people from depression, elevate their joy or bring about a sense of calm I will have achieved my objective”. The lyrical piano melodies, flowing bass lines, and lush harmonic textures on ‘Sometime Somewhere…’ promote the possibility of this objective being achieved. While living in London Keith was privileged to perform in front of the Prince and Princess of Wales at the Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Abbey in addition to the Queen Mother in the Royal College of Music Concert Hall. Keith is currently working as a musician and English teacher in Japan
