Biography
IN THE NURSERY are based around the writing nucleus of twin brothers Klive and Nigel Humberstone, augmented for studio & live work by multi-lingual vocalist Dolores Marguerite C. and military drummer/percussionist Q.
ITN''s musical history spans 19 years and documents their desire for progress and experimentation. Their unique electronic works represent a blending of the symphonic with the modern, the ambient with the danceable and the acoustic with the synthetic.
Formed in 1981, their debut release WHEN CHERISHED DREAMS COME TRUE (1983) marked the beginning of a career that has produced over 230 recorded works encompassing landmark albums such as, L''ESPRIT (1989), SENSE (1991), ANATOMY OF A POET (1993), DECO (1996) & GROUNDLOOP (2000) - albums which have consolidated their distinctive sound whilst taking on board new influences.
The ''filmic'' nature of ITN''s music is forever evident - an aspect utilised to great effect in AN AMBUSH OF GHOSTS (1993), their first feature film soundtrack and continued through their various TV and film commissions including ''Erin Brockovich'', ''Random Hearts'', ''Interview with The Vampire'', ''The Sweet Hereafter'', ''La Femme Nikita'' & ''The Rainmaker'', as well as in their own Optical Music releases THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI (1996), ASPHALT (1997), MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA (1999) & HINDLE WAKES (2001). These new scores for classic silent films have been accompanied by live performance screenings at independent cinemas throughout Europe. Forthcoming independent films ''Underground'' (UK) & ''XXL'' (Germany) also feature music by In The Nursery.
IN THE NURSERY now operate through their own ITN Corporation label, allowing them greater artistic freedom and the opportunity to diversify as seen to great effect in their LES JUMEAX side-project releases FEATHERCUT (1996) & COBALT (1997).
A new album ENGEL is released October 2001.
