Biography
FrodoCPU is a mostly Norwegian band based in California, USA. We think it is ''Trans-Atlantic Music'' in the truest sense - Influences from Europe and the West Coast in the famous ''melting pot''. The project is the brainchild of Frode Holm, who together with Atle Bakken has nursed this CD-project to completion. The band has so far been strictly a studio project, relentlessly chasing the ''perfect'' production. From searing ballads to hard-hitting power pop these tracks deliver world-class performances and production in a fresh and original style. Frode started playing the piano at age 9 and got himself a name as a keyboardist on the Norwegian scene with a fusion band called ''Vanessa'', which recorded several albums and toured extensively in Scandinavia during the 70s. His solo career as a singer started with a band called ''Sgt. Salt'' in the late 70s. He then had the good fortune to hook up with a major ''behind the scenes'' industry figure: Mario ''The Big M'' Medious who at the time had just concluded his tenure as Emerson, Lake & Palmer''s manager (Manticore Records). In the early 80's, he secured a recording contract with Polygram Records in Norway, which launched the 'CPU' band for the first time (then called 'HolmCPU'). This project enjoyed several years of success in Norway and Scandinavia. However, the songs were all in Norwegian, so the market could not expand outside of those territories. Ultimately, he decided to go for broke and start all over again in the USA. He settled down in Santa Barbara, California, initially pursuing various musical interests not really related to the pop and rock industry. Amongst other activities, he has been teaching music technology courses at UCSB. Of course, he never stopped writing songs and the world is about to hear them for the first time now!
