Biography
Whilst never comfortable with the idea of being a ?political? band elbow have written a single which is a subtle yet scathing attack on the Neo Conservative agenda and general ?Let them eat cake? attitude of the Western world?s politicians, is borne of lead singer Guy Garvey?s stringent and well documented opposition to the Iraq war and general political dislocation between the people and their supposed leaders.elbow have been consistently forthright in their support for those issues in which they believe. Second album, ?Cast Of Thousands? featured the MAG (Mines Advisory Group) logo and royalties from the attendant single, ?Grace Under Pressure?, were donated to the mine clearance organisation. elbow also recently recorded the track ?Snowball? for the current ?A Day In The Life? Warchild album, an unreleased song from the ?Cast Of Thousands? sessions that was rightly recognised by many reviewers as one of the stand out tracks on the album. In addition, their radical re-working of John Lennon?s ?Working Class Hero? features on the covermount cd of the current issue of Q and has seen the band earning yet more plaudits from the critics.
