Biography
Diana Ambache has to date performed 22 classical piano concertos as director and soloist, from the established masterpieces of Mozart to the first London 20th century performance of the Dussek G minor concerto. She has given solo recitals at the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall, and in the last few years has toured Spain, Yugoslavia, SE Asia and China. She studied on scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, Sheffield University, and subsequently had lessons with Jeremy Siepmann. The AMBACHE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE gave its inaugural concert at St John`s, Smith Square on May 1st 1984. Its members include many prominent chamber music players, and it is the only British orchestra to perform consistently without a conductor. This chamber music way of working particularly suits its repertoire of 18th and early 19th century music, which would originally have been performed in this way. The leader Adrian Levine is an ex-member of the English Chamber Orchestra, led the Amphion String Quartet, and also leads other freelance orchestras including the Philomusica and the English Baroque Orchestra.
