Expertly programmed for maximum lushness and momentum, this music cruises along a straight, sunny road with a handful of exotic key changes to punctuate the ever onward journey. Would the 'Pat' in the title refer to Mr Metheny? Certainly there's something in the guitar tone and the openness of the melody and harmonies to the tune's bridge that recalls the great guitarist and composer. The electronic atmospherics suggest briefly that 'Brian' might be an allusion to Mr Eno, but as the latter part of the track is given over to a chunky organ solo, perhaps it's Mr Auger.
