With so many incredible tracks packed onto one album, this ?Best Of? is testament to why Death In Vegas are one of Britain's most critically acclaimed musical successes. The sheer quality of their song writing is undeniable; from top 10 hit ?Aisha? through to songs such as ?Dirge?, ?Scorpio Rising? and ?Dirt?. The range of guests alone shows the level of esteem the band are held in ? talents as diverse as Iggy Pop, Paul Weller, Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Liam Gallagher, Dot Allison and Bobby Gillespie have all lined up to guest on DIV songs. Indeed, ?Scorpio Rising? featuring Liam Gallagher, is often been billed as ?the best single Oasis never made?. Side One of ?Milk It? features 11 tracks from across the DIV albums ?The Contino Sessions?, ?Dead Elvis? and ?Scorpio Rising?Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes have not only produced a huge amount of great records they have also pushed the envelope for this style of music. Not confined to the dance ghetto, Death In Vegas are as renowned for their groundbreaking videos as they are for their live shows. The ?Scorpio Rising? album also featured the celebrated Indian Violinist Dr L Subramaniam ? although he toured the world in the mid 70?s with George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, he had only ever previously recorded with the legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock. In another unique collaboration, Disc 2 features mixes of Death In Vegas tracks from a variety of artists. Tracks on offer include a special mix of 'Scorpio Rising' by The Polyphonic Spree and mixes of the incredible 'Hands Around My Throat', written and produced by Death In Vegas in collaboration with Detroit electro innovators, Adult. Adult's punk like attitude, raw robotic vocals and cutting edge lyrics work perfectly within the context of a Death In Vegas track and this became a much sought after club item. Whipping together elements of dub reggae, techno, electro, funk, soundtrack music, jazz and big fat guitar rock, the Vegas game plan has always been one of enlightened eclecticism. ?Milk It? is the perfect showcase for their unique sound. ?Milk It? is released on the 7th February 2004.
