CHIWAWA
IN THE WINDOW ?What kind of beast is this band called
Chiwawa? You could call it a well-clad
pop outfit, happily roaming the back
alley ways of a dog eat dog world; or a
small, barky beast with an independent
spirit.
Chiwawa''s core is Laurie Gordon and
Krassy Halatchev, both multi
instrumentalists and songwriters.
Together for several years, the prolific
duo has written over 200 songs between
them. Their debut album The Sick World
Of Yona has received excellent reviews.
It was produced with British producer
Steve Whitfield who has worked with the
Cure and the Mission among others.
The album was released on Chiwawa''s
vanity label Satellite Records Canada.
Chiwawa''s musical approach is highly
original and will satisfy even the most
discerning listener. Chiwawa has the
capacity to set musical trends rather
than follow them and has been called
''ahead of its time''.
Chiwawa blends electronic with acoustic
instruments creating a sweeping
soundscape around Laurie''s unique and
emotionally charged voice. Krassy''s
bass drives the music to its rhythmic
and harmonic potential. On stage, the
duo multiplies into a pack of wolves
seducing its audience with a groove-
oriented set. Chiwawa is currently
producing its third album - ''Bright'', which will be released in the summer of 2002.
