Biography
CHABLIS
Cablis is an obscure, special pop-noir band. Like film-noir, with an athmosphere like Alfred Hitchcock and Daivd Lynch. Singer Petra is the Dutch Utelemper, but she''s also influenced by Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Yma Sumac.
Accompanied by acoustic double bass, piano, accordeon, sax and drums she sings English, German, French and Dutch folk ballads, Jazzy songs, murder ballads and Marlene Dietrich-like interbellum.
Chablis did many gigs over Holland. Petra lived for one year in London, and she performed also in Kopenhagen and Tunisia. If you like Kurt Weil and Nick Cave and Diamanda Galas, then you''ll probably like Chablis. Chablis is a theatric band, they play in theatres and at festivals as well as in small, dark, obscure pubs....
Chablis writes her own material, but they also play songs from other well know artists. A close friend of Chablis is Gerrit Vennema, he;s like an extra band member and writes songs especially for Chablis.
