Biography

Starting in 1994 under the Name ''Joe Schocker and His All-Star Band'',
the 10 musicians made an important step forward when renaming and
transforming the band into ''BoXer'' - no more classics by
Joe Cocker, it was time to find their own musical identity.
Holger Stenger and his musicians are proud of their first-class
song-material and is apparent in their deeply emotional, powerful
performances. The band''s music is a mixture of R''n''B, modern Soul, Pop and some
Rockpower. Its essence is made up of Holger''s growling voice and a
rhythm section, which knows how to play a perfect groove. The top of the
cream are a killer horn section and powerful backing vocals that both
make for some of the best ones available in Rhein-Main area. More
importantly however, this is a true ''working band'' - and this is felt by the audience
. You can see, hear and feel these guys working real hard
on stage, and they do an excellent job in making sure that no one in the
audience stays untouched.

The 10-piece band is made up of high-class professional musicians coming
all from Rhein-Main area. They all have worked in the past with some
impressive names on stage and in the studio, such as Xavier Naidoo,
Sabrina Setlur, Edo Zanki, Rodgau Monotones, Kevin Coyne, Carl
Weathersby, and many more.
Club- and Open-Air Gigs so far have included the Colos-Saal,
Aschaffenburg; Oberhaus Alzey; H|ffelsheim Open-Air; Brauhaus
Schweinfurt; Club Aldjana, Djerba/Tunesien; Frankfurt Opernplatz
Festival; Support for Elton John [''97], Whitney Houston [''98], Eros
Ramazotti [2000]; Nachtschicht, Heidelberg; Meisenfrei Bluesclub,
Bremen; Rider''s Cafe, L|beck; Bischofsm|hle, Hildesheim; Alte Piesel,
Fulda; Sinkkasten, Frankfurt; Nachtleben, Frankfurt, and lots, lots
more.
Interviews and airplay have happened, among others, on HR3, SWR3,
Antenne Bayern, TV Touring, Radio Primavera, Bayern 3, Radio Regenbogen,
Radio Darmstadt, . . .

BoXer History:

When ''Joe Schocker and His All-Star Band'' started in 1994 as a
fun-project, nobody could possibly foresee the band''s fast local and
regional success. Powerful and charismatic interpretations of Joe
Cocker''s classics led first to great public approval, and was followed by a
convinced and sympathetic press, and finally led the band to rethink its
ambitions. It soon became clear that original material should sooner or
later replace the cover songs that they had been playing so far.

The band had already proved to itself that it knew how to work hard. A
common musical background, good chemistry and four experienced
songwriters was all the band needed to start with: collecting ideas,
writing and jamming finally led to the recording of
a CD.

Mathias Hensel was picked as executive producer [a longtime friend and
fan of Holger] and the great Edo Zanki, who liked the band''s musical
output , and was recruited as producer. The result of this
fruitful endeavour are the 12 songs on BoXer''s debut album ''Stick
Together'', recorded at Zanki''s Kangaroo Studio during the summer 1998.

The band released its first single ''I''m Sad'' in March 1999, which was
followed by the album release in July 1999. Since then the band has
managed to increase its visibilty and image all over Germany, playing
many of the big live clubs and ensuring some radio airplay. The band is
happily looking to a future with more and more gigs, and more great
laughs on the road . . .
